Gidday all,
I have bought myself the 60l Waeco and I would like to know does the electronic temp readout indicate the true fridge temperture?
Cheers
Greg

From my experience no.
Best to get a seperate temp gauge, plenty available on ebay or at camping stores.

Doubt it would be truly accurate.? What does the manual say.? I use a thermometer to gauge what setting delivers what temp, however with your readout you could
check doing the same. For example you might find when the setting says -5 degrees it may be -3 or -4 and so forth. Waeco would have a tolerance on the readout I am sure.

No it's only there for show!
The Waeco temp readout is accurate for where it's mounted, if you use an external temp gauge more then likely you will get a different temp reading due to where it's sitting.
The variance between the two may be up to + or - 4 deg.C.
If your really worried about it us two temp gauges, place one in the hottest point inside the fridge and the other one at the coldest point, add the two together, divide by two and take an average.
In any refrigeration system if working right you will have a difference in temp, across the evaporator.
Most temp gauges use a surface probe, if you want a more accurate measurement pay more and by a real air temp probe that sample air temp inside the cabinet.

Mine isn't accurate, but only out by approx 2 deg.....on mine ( yours could be different, so experiment with it ), I set the readout to 1 and find the bottom of the fridge is -1....perfect for the beer, but you may find you like a different temp ??
I don't bother with other temp probes etc....if the beer is really cold ( but not starting to freeze ) then the fridge is set perfect for me !!

Thanks mate, that was the answer l was after! Being a cheap skate I was hoping someone else had done the testing for me as l didn't want to buy a thermometer. Thinking back on the trip l did several weeks ago with the setting on 3 the beer, for me, was perfect. The food,
well, the beer was cold wasn't it!!
Ahh nothing like the beer
test.
Cheers
Greg

Ours was used as a freezer and was set at -10.
Kept meat frozen solid and yet in the side compartment the stuff was cold but not frozen.
Used it for 13months non stop like that.
Just try it for what you want they are probably all a bit different.
