Just wondering if anyone else has had this problem. New van first trip Aug 2009 truma leaked everywhere had to have tank replaced under warranty. Aug 2010 on our way again from Adelaide to Queensland SAME PROBLEM cant believe it -van would have been used a total of 5 weeks in between these two trips. Each time on a Friday evening!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! No longer under warranty so just wondering if this is a common problem. No point upgrading van to get a shower if the hot water system is useless!!!!!!!!!!!! Not Happy!!!!

Is it leaking around where the 240volt element goes in.Mine leaked there, tried to find it for ages and then discovered that where one of the small threaded studs was welded to the tank there was a small crack or fault in the weld, anyhow took it to a local welder and he MIG welded it. Seems to have fixed it for now.

Truma hot water only give trouble when incorrectly installed. Not level base, excess pressure on water or gas connections. Installed correctly Truma are highly reliable.

Hi belfastgirl1943,
I agree with paulnsw, Most caravan workers are just that and many installation errors occur due to no one checking on their work. The correct working of these units depend on correct installation.
Having two in a row fail is no coincidence. Some one doesn't know what they are doing or they just told you it was a new unit.belfastgirl1943

My unit has been in for 6 years and works faultlessly. Make sure that it has a over pressure valve that goes out through the floor to the outside, for a start. This is usually close to the unit and is screwed to the floor :it may be blocked. It has a vertical toggle switch and when pushed downwards will empty the unit ,Just try it to see if it works.the pump should be on and will kick in immediatly.
Also when the water heats up it expands and there is another pressure outlet which may discharge within the lockable inlet water point area.It depends on the fittings used.

The Caravan repairer in Geraldton had a heap of these in the corner .

They said they rip them out and replace with a Suburban unit.

Better unit more reliable etc etc.
