Any reaction to me buying a 1995 Nissan Patrol 4.2 litre EFI wagon, I know its thirsty bugger but I believe it will drag that 1480kg caravan my Nissan Terrano won't lug.

Any known problems with this beasty.

If you are "well off" then the GQ EFI 4.2 will be the car for you....It will tow really well and will easily sit on 100kmh+ with more to go...
Expect around 340kms from an 85 litre tank whilst towing.....and maybe 400 when not towing............I used to get 350ish when not towing...
The only thing i can say that is bad about this car is the craphouse fuel economy and the need to refuel often....._____________________________________________

Thanks that was what I was expecting, although I thought it was a 95 litre tank.

I had a 74 coaster home (as mobile home) but with hq 202 motor which gave me 20l / 100k, at top speed 80kph. (average 66kph to Perth) My Terrano got 20l / 100k at average 63 over 340k. So it sound like heaven to do 100kph towing.

Hi Russ Ive got a 1995 efi , they are great trucks can tow anything . Im getting 600-700 per tank (not towing) we cruise at 95 ks and ive put 2 hiclone in it ,which seems to work for us .It is great off road. the only problem ive had is that i replace the petrol pump at 125000 kms , ive done 150,000 ks.If there is anything i can help with please dont hesitate to contact me

Hello Uppy,

Thanks again for the tip on the fuel pump. I notice in your post that you have installed 2 hiclones, I am also considering installing them (seems to be a lot of debate on their effectivness!). Do you remember how many km's you got out of a tank before them? Also is is a standard factory tank? If so, you are getting 100-200km's a tank better than me!!!!

Cheers,
Jeremy

sorry Jezza for the delay. Before we had the hiclone put in we got about 400 ks per tank around town( Leeton)and about 500 on the open road.As i said before we just cruise at 95 ks.Alot of people say the are not any good.,but i feel that i can comment as im using them in a truck that is renowed for fuel consumption.Regarding extra power ,i did notice a bit, p lease keep in touch and if you are ever near leeton let me know we,ll have a cold beer
regards uppy
