Can anyone update me on the condition of the road going in to the 80 Mile Beach caravan
Park? I know its about 9km off the highway and I'm not really keen to tow my caravan in there if the road is corrugated at the moment, especially after bits started falling off when we did a 3.5 km detour into the
Gregory tree a few weeks ago
Thanks
WBS

Hi WBS, i was there second week of June and found it to be mildly corrugated in parts. On saying that it is only about 9k's and if taken easy i wouldnt think they would be bad enough to do damage. The CV
park itself was quite good, clean amenities, friendly people and not expensive, although we only camped there for one night in an unpowered sight. Certainly worth the walk along
the beach and the sunsets. Hope this helps.
Tony

Hi WBS,
We were there 3.5 weeks ago and the road only had minor corrugations. When we were leaving they were actually beginning to grade it again, so I'm assuming they keep up a regular maintenance (grading) schedule on the road.
Regards,
Darren

We visited 80 Mile Beach in the 3rd week of June. We drove our all wheel Adventra wagon and 17ft single axle van down to the
park and had no problems whatsoever on the mildly corrugated road. What greets you at the end of the road is worth the patience it takes in getting there. The
park was
like a little friendly community nestled in the dunes on one of the most magnificient beaches we found on our travels. Even better if you are a keen on fishing. Amenities clean and very adequate. Do make sure you take enough food supplies etc to last your trip. Organised happy hours and weekly market contribute to the community feeling.
Hope this is useful. Enjoy your travels.

Tyres on car are Bridgestone 225/55R17. Tread ER300Z. Good for normal driving on highway but need to be pumped up to 40psi when towing van as tend to wander b/cause of soft side walls. Tyres ok for mild corregated road however would not recommend for continuous gravel road driving b/cause of the soft side walls.
Cheers,

G'day WBS,
I was in there last week and found the dirt road to be in good condition.
I wasnt towing anything but my almost 33year old 4x4 isnt the most comfortable of chariots specially given among everything else the original seats remain and offer very little in the way of cushioning!
Travis.

If you are worried about corrugations and have a 12v tyre pump simply let your tyre pressures down when you venture off the sealed road.
I suggest to around 30psi or lower then just drive steadily under 65kph all the way in then simply pump them up again.
They will be able to withstand this short distance at low pressures and will stop the van from shaking to pieces.
