Hi, heading to Innamincka in September. Is it worth taking a V nose punt,8 HP?
Is there enough water? How far could i go in either direction? Is this practical? What camp sites would you recommend. Thanks for any advice.

I was there late July and the ferrymen's thought were that it would be flowing in October, if not December. A small boat could be recommended. There are kms to explore (some suggest all the way to Innaminka) and great camping along its banks (BYO drinking water though). There were two hoby?cats sailing down to Lake Eyre when I took a flight over the area. They would get disorientated at times in the Cooper Swamp (according to one of their support crew) west of the ferry and were looking forward to where it becomes a well defined stream agin.

G'day Hoffy

We camped at the Cullyamurra waterhole near Innamincka during the July school holidays .... used a tinny & there was plenty of water for boating / fishing. The following web link has details of flow rate & levels of the Cooper Creek taken at the Cullyamurra WH monitoring site which is about 11 km upstream from the Innamincka causeway & about 7 km downstream from the "choke".

Cullyamurra WH monitoring site

The Google map included in this link will give you some idea of the length of river available ... lucky you have an O/B motor .... its a long way to row !!??

Best camp site ?? .... I reckon Cullyamurra water hole ... you will probably have kms. of river front all to yourself with toilets nearbye.

Regards
