hi all ,
we have been on the road since feb this year and have never seen our reg read that we are down to 11.5 volts Im not sure whats going on as it still reads that I have taken in 69 AH I have 2X BP solar panels 1X80 W and 1X 125W I have 2X 110AH AGM batts in paralell and a 20 AMP plasmatronics
dingo reg ,I need to sort this out as we are just off the
gibb river road and are heading to the Bungles ,we rely on the solar and need it to work right but Im not sure what to look for or how I should fault find so any advice would be great,I hope to hear from some of you guys soon.

Hello John,
I hate to say it, but it looks like one of your batteries has a shorted cell.
To find out which one, just isolate one battery from the circuit by removing the fuse near its positive terminal.
If the voltage increases to more normal readings, this battery is the faulty one.
If not, then the other one's faulty.
Do a double check to confirm this.
Best regards, Peter

Hi Peter,
Thank you for your reply,I was in the middle of isolating the batts when I remembered that there was a converter charger at the opposite end of the van ( WHY WINDSOR WOULD WIRE HALF THE VAN AT ONE END AND THE REST AT THE OTHER END IS BEYOND ME ? ) sorry that was a dig at them and a pet hate with me about this van,I just checked it out and the 240 volt plug was in the power point but had fell out of the socket in the converter ,so I just pluged it in and the reg now reads 12.5 volts ,I dont know if this is only because I have pluged into 240 and I will have the same worry when I unplug and I dont fully understand the way it all is meant to work ,so I will ask you or anyone else out there if they have the time could they post in laymans terms the way its all meant to work PLEASE :)
kind regards john.

I have 2x80watt BP Solar panels and a BP controller. The van load also goes thru the controller. I can see the Solar panels putting in amps from the sun and the load eg TV taking amps out of the batteries (2x120ah wet cells) so your 69AH should increase if the solar is working.
My controller also cuts off the load to protect the batteries if the voltage goes below a certain level 11.5 volts? I would check to see if the sola is charging the batteries you may have a broken wire somewhere, a bugger if its on the roof connecting your solar setup.
Helped a mobile home diagonse a problem a Fuse on the solar link to the batteries melted the fuse holder before blowning the fuse. Check all your fuses.
I would not let your batteries go below 11.5 top them up every night with the generator until you find the problem.
