Aside from stopping at a few Parks such as Carappee
Hill and Wharminda Soaks (some may have honesty box fees), we found that much of the Eyre Peninsular has old roads running roughly parallel to current roads and we could pick a spot behind some trees. We choose ones along minor roads rather than the main highway and got quiet nights.
Lipson Cove, to the North of
Tumby Bay was our favourite Eyre Peninsular
free camp ground. Not quiet though, as it is an isolated bay with an island where terns breed, and noisily feed their fledglings on
the beach. Delightful.
