Hi All,
I know the caravan
park at
Andamooka has closed and that there is a
camping area in the township run by APOMA, but does anyone know any nice
places just out of town where you can
bush camp? Thanks.

That's real good news Smokie as we are headed up that way in a couple of weeks and SWMBO will be in her glory, I just read and do as I'm told.
How was the mobile phone reception or is that out of the question?

Thanks Smokie that is even better news, the trip destination is inevitable so it is just a matter of keeping me entertained during fossicking hours. We will be spending money in town for sure as I believe there are a couple of pubs in operation.

We spent 8 months in
Andamooka (working in roxby). The area near the noodling heap is probably your best bet. Some people do stay at a spot half way between roxby and
andamooka near
the junction on the main road. I would reccomend staying in town if you plan leaving your vehicle and going noodling.
Just a word of warning though. Be careful you don't catch opal fever. You will know when you do cause you will start licking the rocks to show up the opal. We caught it, just after we found our first opal.
Andamooka was our girls favourite spot on ouir trip. White Dam is a worth a look as
well. The track from
andamooka through
Mulgaria station to Frina is a great drive. The
mine tour is worth doing.
Have fun and enjoy the local characters.

Josh
Thanks for the extra info this is getting better and better all the time. Fiona thought it was wonderful and found your response just checking out Google for noodling spots, now she is over the moon that she got a reply before I did.
She thinks it's great news, especially that your kids loved it. Been there and done that with licking rocks, she has often entrapped me to help/assist, etc. We will have fun and both of us enjoy meeting people, being a photographer I am interested in just about anything, but I draw the line at acre after acre of rocks. Now she knows about this reply I'm a goner, regardless we will follow your advice and thanks for the reply.

Hi Spanner3,
My (then) 9 year old and I were there last year. Look at 20 - 22 September in our blog. Written so a 9 year old could relate to it and never finished but has info about the area you're interested in. You'll have to go to the "older post" link at the bottom of the page to get to those dates. Re-reading it now it sounds a bit negative but the dust storms got to us!
Regards,
Adrian
