Vrilya Point,
Captain Billy Landing,
Chili Beach &
Portland Roads, Archer River,
Weipa, Bramwell etc - any info appreciated.
Cheryl

hi friends have just returned from the cape through the gulf, road conditions apparently were favourable, the by pass road was excellent, all vehicles lost their side steps on the french line (road west from chilli beach) but the river crossings were all passable on this route as they were not when we were up there. rained every day so assents into some crossings were slippery gunshot has another track which is suitable for campers.

Hi
Thanks for the feedback Jezza. Did they mention the OTL conditions? We are only planning on doing the first section up to Elliot Falls and then back to the by pass road.

Cheryl
I did Cape trip 3-4 weeks ago. Roads are in good nick PDR was corregated around
Eliot Falls (40kmh section for about 20km) otherwise great. The first drop on the OTL (Palm
Creek) has a steep entry - most vehicles were hitting their back bumper bars as they driopped off. I have a L/C 100 - no trailer - I chickend out here (didnl;t want to risk a bent up bumper and back panel), went up the PDR and then joined the OTL just north of Gunshot - from then on the OTL was fine - Logons
Creek and Nolans were just under waist deep - we got through no problems. Other roads - Capt Billy - easy - could have got a commodore down there. If you are going from
Weipa to Bramwell - take the Batavia downs short cut - just been graded and again the commodore would make it. Sorry didnlt get a chance to do Chilli Beach.
Have a great trip
Paul

PS - forgot to mention - Palm
Creek is only 3-4km along the OTL from Bramwell - still drive down there and check it out for yourself. If you decide its not for you - its not far to double back.

from what i heard all good a lot of traffic passing through so some inclines and declines to creeks a bit slippery, but thats what you go there for

Hi Cheryl,
Its a graded highway. So smooth you will probably be disappointed that there is no "adventure".
