Hi all
I will be in
Townsville overnight this weekend with the Family (wife + 2 rugrats.) and, as there seems to be a high demand on local accommodation this weekend, we are looking to stay in a self cont. unit at one of the van parks.
While I'm there, I'll take the boys to the Cowboys game Sat night.
Would anyone have any recommendations or experiences (good or bad) on any particular
park in terms of noise, location, general condition etc.
As usual, on the net there are a lot of conflicting reviews. The Lakes holiday seems to be a good option? Walkabout palms big 4?
cheers
Mark.

Hi Mark,
Yes, The Lakes is a good option. Good pool for the kids, next door to naughty takeaway shops (KFC, PizzaHut, Kebabs, chines, Sizzlers) and a very short walk to Castletown
shopping plaza where you can get the bus to the game if your looking at having a few bevies. Also across from there is a mini golf centre which is great for the kids (jumping castles and all the amusements of a show). Although not sure how old the "rugrats" are. Its is on a main street but I doubt the car noise will be too much hassle.
Walkabout Palms has an ok pool area, bit out of town but on the main
intersection to enter/leave the Ville so will be subjected to roadtrains etc. Nice restuarant there but thats about it.
Have fun at the game!!

cheers Ad !
thanks for the info , yes the lakes does seem a good option for kids (7&9), as
well as general location and set back a bit from Woolcock St too.
Bus to game is a bonus - was going to
park out at willows...
thanks
Mark

Hmmm, it;s proving difficult to even secure a cabin in
Townsville this weekend!
might have to try the outskirts of town.....

Ah ha! Got a unit at walkabout palms (despite web saying booked).
Bit out of the way, but lucky to get in apparently..
Cowboys game, as
well as Jess Mulbry in town performing and the t'ville amatuers (races) on has filled up most
places

Have you tried
Woodlands Holiday
Park? It is on the northern fringe of the city, so is not really handy to anything much. But it is a Big4
park. We have stayed there in our own van, but the cabins look fine. Nice swimming pool.

Hi Wendys
Yep, tried them - booked out too.
Have no dramas throwing the
camping gear in for the night if need be - that's if there is a site available somewhere... :)
