Looking to buy a 5" or 7" generic GPS with windows CE from ebay, then adding Oziexplorer. Can anyone tell me which unit they purchased, and the buyers online name? Were they reliable? How good is the unit? Are you happy with the end result? I know it's been asked here before, bear with me... I'm looking for updated info.
You can email me:
wisdom@internode.on.net

thanks in advance,
regards

I have a 5" model from these guys http://www.dealextreme.com/products.dx/category.413

I have had tom tom, iGO8 and Oziexplorer CE added and they work pretty well.

This one http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.23568

The bracket is not real good so I replaced it with a better suction cap bracket that I bought locally.

Hi Fred

The link below is for an item I purchased recently however it has 4GB of flash memory whereas mine only has two. I am very happy with the screen size and the ease of Ozi CE. MM me if you need any help. Cheers Leigh

PS not sure how to paste an active link!!

Hi Fred
I have this one.
I have one SD card with just OziExp CE on it, and another that I am experimenting with this menu system.
I have the menu system running with Garmin XT, OziExp and iGO just have to get Tom Tom up and running.
Although it says, it only takes 8 gig card, I am running up to 32 gig cards, which seem ok.
The unit seems quite adequate, especially for the price, although I haven't used it on any long trips yet.
They are versatile and you sure learn a lot of good info. about gps and mapping programs when you start playing / programming them
Cheers

Hi Neil,

Out of the street nav software you've been trying which do you recommend? i have a generic GPS and currently have Destinator on it but want to change to something better.

What's your opinion between tom tom and iGo?

Cheers,
Ben

Hi Ben
re: "What's your opinion between tom tom and iGo? "
As I stated in the above post, I haven't actually loaded Tom Tom yet, and unfortunately, I have never used a Tom Tom, so I can't help, sorry.
I find myself Using Garmin XT and Ozi Exp CE the most, but I am bias, as I have other Garmin GPS's, so probably more familiar with them ???
I can give you information that may help you, on Garmin XT, iGo, Tom Tom if you need it, just drop me an email at : res.q.guy@westnet.com.au
Cheers
Neil
