Gday...
Yesterday we made our way from
Lightning Ridge to
St George QLD.
The road between
Hebel and
Dirranbandi is in very poor condition for a sealed highway.
Despite the effects of recent flooding that has impacted the surface, the repairs that have been done are coming to bits due to traffic damage. This is made a little worse as they have signs up saying "Rough Surface" but it doesn't really help, as the 'rough damage' differs each time. Sometimes it is just rippled bitumen and at other times it is road-wide and 2metres across and potholled.
Many times we had to drive on the wrong side of the road to avoid the damaged road surface.
The shoulder on most of the road is also rough and sharp edged - not good if you have to drop the
wheels off the edge for an oncoming truck.
Road is also like a roller coaster in most
places.
On the up side, there are stretches where the road has been completely renewed and is quite good - widened as
well.
Cheers
