We are currently in
Cairns & have a roof mounted IBIS aircon in our van. It works
well but it gets a lot of condensation & drips all over the floor. One of our friends has the same aircon & the same happens to them but the aircon we had in our previous van never did this. We clean the filters but it doesn't seem to make a difference. Its very annoying as towards the end of the day it drips almost continuously!!
Does anyone have any ideas how to stop this or why it is happening?
Leanne

hi leeb
we have a ibis roof mount air con fitted to our 2009 model van (not sure on you're model) but if its the current model low profile then we have the same unit.
after the Xmas holidays last year we had our van back to our van dealer due to the same issue, condensation and water all over the floor below the unit.
the dealer explained that there is a drain hole at the left lower rear of the air conditioner and if you're van when parked is not perfectly positioned level all the water might not drain out, there for it running back into the unit. we have used our van a couple of times since then and have had no issues.
hope i have been of some help, we aren't quite needing our air con yet down here in
Geelong its freezing.
regards andy

Have had the same problem with the same air con, and apparently it has to do with extremely humid type days - have just had the sensor replaced, and the tech told me that it was common with these things. He checked all the drain holes, and said that the amount of condensation just backs up until it overflows.
I guess we can save water and have a shower under it :-)
cheers

Hi Leanne,
We have the same aircon as yours (low profile?) and ran it every day all day for a week (7am to 7pm) when we stayed in
Cooktown at the end of May because of the humidity there, also when we stayed in
Chillagoe. Didnt have any problems with it dripping though. In fact it worked perfectly and we were so glad to be able to escape the outside conditions every time we dropped back to the van, between sightseeing excursions. The temperature wasnt that high but the humidity was pretty awful we thought.(The locals were telling us that it was beautiful because the humidity had dropped so I dont know how they cope in the wet season!)
A couple of years ago when we were returning
home across western NSW in July we tried to run it on heat a couple of mornings when the outside temperature was below freezing and it wouldnt start up. We were told that it wont work when the temperature drops below about 2 degrees so now carry a fan heater to run through the night in cold
places. It isnt as noisy as the aircon either.
I realise this reply wont help you solve your problem but thought you may find it interesting for cold weather.
Good luck and I hope you solve the problem.
Regards,
Heather
