I am thinking of getting a power chip for my R51 Pathfinder and my question to you all is, will I get any advantage from a chip if I do not change the exhaust as
well.

I fitted a Steinbauer power chip to my '09 auto D4D Hilux that contantly carries about 600kg and the difference was noticeable instantly on the first test drive. It was able to power up long up hills on the open road where it would previously change down and rev excessively. Also, it doesn't gain the 20% extra torque & power by raising the fuel pressure in the common rail, it just changes the injector timing & duration.
Basically it transformed the vehicle in my experience.
Hope this helps you decision.
Regards,
Chris

Hi,
I also have a Steinbauer unit fitted to my Rexton and support the comments made by Chris. To my knowledge, the Steinbauer unit are the only units on the market that actually monitor the accelerator position. I can recommend these units.
Cheers

Check out the latest "Australian 4WD Action" magazine as they have a good comparo on chips and their effects. It may assist with your decision.

Have you had a look at Chipit power chips.
http://chipit.com.au/. They look to be good value to me. If you have a look in 4wdaction
forum they are in the process of getting together enough buyers to get a
forum discount price.
Site Link. They also do an exhaust and power chip package.
