As we had to make an assessment of our Simpson crossing after being rained in at
Oodnadatta for 3 days, hoping to head to the Coopers Ferry from Monday 30th for a cupla days.
No rain for the last few days, so any feedback on this area would be appreciated over the next week or so.

Oh, left
Oodnadatta and headed up to Alice via
Coober Pedy, spent some time in the Eastern McDonnell Ranges,
Trephina Gorge,
Rainbow Valley and
Chambers Pillar. Had a great time.

Great photos Russ! Thanks for sharing.
We took the detour to see the ferry, couldn't cross it as we were towing trailers, but it was very much worth the drive to see it!! Enjoy your trip!!
Cheers
Brian

Hi Russ,
Make the effort to get to the
Cooper Creek and the ferry - you won't be disappointed. Lots of great
camping spots, scenery and birdlife.Image Could Not Be Found

Geoff,
Will be there providing it is not too wet and raining.
Will probably
camp on the Maree side to ensure that we can get out early on the Thursday, probably just taking swags.
As we will have been driving for about 9 hours on the Monday, do you recommend any particular
camping spot to make it easier on our arrival?
Russ

Coming in from the maree side go to the right before the ferry and follow the
creek around for about 2 to 3 km and there is a nice sheltered
lagoon.
It is boggy so follow the previous car tacks (no tack as such)
We were there early Jul;y and no wind, cold though, and the sun rise and set were un beeeleaveable
Going back for a week end in Nov

Hi Russ,
We took the advice from other previous posts on this
forum and camped near the "normal" crossing of the
Cooper creek - coming from Maree keep heading straight rather than taking the detour to the ferry and once you get to the Cooper head to the left, plenty of good campsites there. One tip - drive a km or so rather than
camp with the crowds near the
Birdsville track.
Sounds like there has been plenty more recent rains so be cautious around the boggy areas, and have a great time!
Cheers,
Geoff

You can
camp at the crossing. There is not a lot of shelter and I would take you own firewood which you can collect on the way. When we were there which was a few weeks ago it was extremely windy and cold. We stayed inside our Tvan. The only thing about the night was that
Port Adelaide beat the Crows. However it was very worthwhile staying and crossing over with the ferry the next morning.

Thanks, Sunday week and I will be worried.
If I have it correct, you are at Etadunna, would appreciate some feedback as the time gets closer.
I finish work at 11.30pm Sunday week, will try to get a few hours sleep then heading straight up, but if it is wet and muddy, will reconsider.
Thanks.
