Sounds OK as mine would have been $1100 from one company for $70,000 and $10,000 contents $400 xs

Just shop around and the van specific companies arent the cheapest.

Have mine with Affinity insurance Brokers but probably not next time as they have changed underwriters and vehicle went up 25% this year so now with NRMA for it.

Hi gunnicit,

I am insured by CIL just got my van back after a claim through them and the service was fantastic. I have a European Burstner, punched a hole in the side and the only way it could be repaired properly was replace the whole side, this involved shipping the new side from Germany, this was done, the van is like new again and I am as pleased as punch. While I was waitng for the part to arrive they paid for emergency repairs and I was able to use the van as I live in it full time. I was treated with the utmost courtesy at all times, and they even payed for accomodation while I was waiting for the van to be repaired.

I have no connection with this company apart from being a very satisfied customer.

Cheers Warren.

Hi Warren, after your recommendations above I have just given CIL a call for a quote and product disclosure information to insure our camper trailer. Can you tell me if you requested extra 'options' on your cover or whas yours a standard cover?ta, doc.

The cover I have as far as I know is their standard cover I did not request extra options when I first got the policy, that was 5yrs ago.

Cheers Warren.

I am also with CIL, had my first claim this year due to hail damage ($24,000) after being with them for 25 years.

Nothing was a problem for them, van repaired and returned very quickly.

Van is insured for $49,300, annexe $2,000 and contents $3,000 cost $620.

I also have a 2010 camper trailer insured with them for $25,000 cost $360.

Can pay by the month no extra charge.

I have no connection with this company apart from being a very satisfied customer.

Cheers,
John

Also with CIL. Haven't had to claim yet (fortunately!), but have been more than happy so far in the dealings I have had with them (notifying change of address, etc.) and their rates are competitive (even compared to "bundled" packages with car and household insurance with other insurers). They appear to be a very professional and courteous company - their coverage is very much tailored specifically to caravan owners, unlike some other larger general insurance companies - and their call centre doesn't appear to be based overseas! I did a bit of research on the 'net and heard a lot of good "word of mouth", before giving them my business.
Like John above, I have no connection with the company apart from being a happy customer.

Cheers
Mark

hi all, all my insurance is with the r.a.a. Caravan, Camper, l/ cruiser, etc. and there prices are very good. Deciding factor is Raa aussie assist. 10 years back dad and mum were doing the big lap and dad had a heart attack in darwin. They had to airfreight dad back to adelaide for surgery and that left mom in darwin. this happened on a friday. sat morning i rang raa aussie assist and explained the problem. BY that arfternoon mom was on a plane to adelaide, caravan packed up and loaded on to a road train and back in my driveway by the thursday. no charge for any thing. no contest when it comes to insurance for me. Raa every time. cheers mark
