I fried an inverter when I used it at the same time as I was charging the battery with a 4 stage charger.

I use my inverter when charging the battery system without undue consequences, I believe it was coincidental it died simultaneously as battery was being charged.

First thing I will say is they are two totally different items, doing two totally different things, so they are set-up independently.

The Inverter takes charge *from* the battery and should be direct-wired to the battery with a fuse at/near the (+) battery connection.
The inverter must be located in a suitable stable area with plenty of fresh cool air available for cooling and away from any possible chance of getting the ingress of moisture.

The battery charger will put charge *into* the battery and can be placed where required.

You actually say: "setup inverter & ctec battery charger *permantley* in camper tralier & ALSO in back of ute"
unless you have 2 of each - with great difficulty :-)
