The Talawana is one of those tracks that doesn't change much. Good to Cotton Creek turn off then a corrugated hell down to the Canning and Georgia Bore (slow grind so take it slow). Once past the Canning it is in fair condition to the Gary. It is corrugated in some places but nowhere near the extent of the earlier, western stages. The track doesn't see that much traffic and the hundreds of camels using it as a walkway have helped flatten out the corrugations (believe it or not).

My blogs from last year may give you some idea as to the conditions. They haven't changed much in 3 or 4 years. I am unable to comment if the track was rain affected over the past couple of months but I doubt all the rain in the tropics could do too jmuch damage to it being as sandy as it is. There are one or two soak areas to cross though.

Talawana to Midway Well

Hi All
Came through there as well.
Get water at Georgia Bore. Great Water even better than the btttled stuff.
Highways/Tracks are as you find them.
Cheers

Hi Rona G,
We travelled the Talawana on or about 25th July 2010 from Georgia Bore heading west. The track was as described by Mick O " a corrugated hell".
We travelled at less than 20 kph for most of the time until impatience took over and tried travelling at 50 kph for a very short time (5 minutes) and blew both front shockers on Nissan Patrol. Shockers were standard Nissan issue but were only 5000 K,s old. We changed the shocks on the side of the road and had Nissan dealer in Broome replace them under warranty; no fuss, no hassle.
Gary Junction Rd and C S R were a breeze in comparison.
Regards
Gladdy
