Hi Joe,
We have just been there very nice place they have a caravan
park at the end near
the beach no power I think but if you take one of the north suburb streets it takes you into the national
park where there is great
camping on
the beach, the
sign says you need 4x4 but we got our jayco in easy.

Joe.
There is a very pleasant, quiet 'van
park there.
Council owned, last year it as $15/night with
camping on a large grassy area not set out for sites.
There is also more congested
camping along
the beach front road, the advantage being ocean view.
There is (was) no vehicle access to
the beach.
We initially booked in for an overnighter, was happy enough to stay 4 days!

You have three choices. The Council caravan
park at the end of the main road in from the highway. There
bush camping if you turn left down the street before the motel. But the real gem is the old Bob and Dolly Dyer caravan
park. Turn right at the council
park and head down till you hit
the entrance - not far.
Camp on
the beach for $15.
We were there the night before last. I hear it's been sold and will be redeveloped.

Forget the driving on
the beach thing up here in NQ Joe.
It is illegal to partake in such environmentally destructive practices up here.
The SOUTHERN GREENIES stop us.
If you want to drive on a beach you are better off going to somewhere heavily populated, like the South-east of Queensland, where the people have some rights.
You can even fish in the SE corner as
well. If you intend to throw a line in up this way you better get a map of the fishing zones & be very sure where you are on it.
