G'day Trendsetters
Yeah! I know - haven't been seen for awhile, however the following was to good not to pass on.

SWMBO is about 5' nothing, with a 'tad' of arthritis to add to the aforementioned height challenge. This in turns makes it difficult for her to 'peek & dip' into the Bushboy 70L fridge. So being the hell of a guy that I am I decided to change the fridge slide to one of those drop down ones.

Searched the net prior to BADGERING the Forum in the first instance and came up with the following - Platinum Drop Fridge Slide and Accessories. There were a number of adverse comments about delivery after paying for same, so I rang them up and had a chat re these adverse comments and this was their reply.

If you purchase/order one of our products via a stockist and the stockist doesn't on forward the payment when ordering from us - we don't supply the stockist. No payment, no goods supplied.

Next question - can I order and pay direct from you - yes you can and it will be delivered in 2 working days.

So I did and it was delivered in 2 working days as stated.

This in my opinion is the way to do business, and the world would be a better place if 30, 60 , 90 day credit lines were abolished altogether. With today's electronic payment technology there is no need for this archaic, bankruptcy enticing facility at all, when all purchases can be paid for when ordering.

Ah! you say, what if the end user business doesn't have a cash flow to cover it. Easy solved - used the banks(lending institutions) , that's what they are for - to fund viable businesses.

Punch line of this anecdote - Upstream supplier/s (one at least) have finally woken up that they are not going to fund downstream business's for free in place of lending institutions.

The Internet is all good for me

DD

PS

Platinum product received is sensational

Yeah ditto that. Bought mine through ARB dealer so no dramas there. The pocket Rocket is only 4"10" in platform thongs so had to incorporate a drop slide situation or invest in step ladder. Platinum has been great.

I agree totally Ddevil. Credit issues and the way they are dealt with by financial mobs are a real issue. I will never order servives from tradespeople that I can't pay for immediately. I just don't understand the mentality that reckons bills for trade services can be put off. If the service is provided, it should be paid for immediately.

Hi D Devil,

Agreed, My work has got eftpos and use it for a good number of transaction. Its cheap and an easy way of doing business. Most of our sales are in 6 figures and the clients use their c cards.

Win win around,

Cheers Wilko

I had something a little bit similar happen to me recently....

I rang up a major automotive parts supplier in Brisbane the other week looking for an item for an upcoming trip. No worries we can get that for you, this is the price. Great, I will pay with credit card over the phone........sorry we don't accept CC over the phone only direct debit into our account or you can come in and pay for it, but told them I live approx 2 hours away from their nearest store. Sorry can't help you otherwise.

So rang the actual company for the said item and paid them with CC over the phone and they sent it to me in about 3-4 days by snail mail. Too easy.

I have done a lot of transactions this way (for the last 13-14years) and will continue to do so. If companies don't want to take my CC over the phone then I take my business elsewhere. Simple....

I can see the point of the auto parts supplier credit card refusal.
If there is no signature it's easy to make a sham payment with a stolen credit card, get it delivered to anywhere and the company then has no goods and no payment.
If the actual manufacturer wants to take the risk the onus is on him, it could just as easily go pear shaped if the credit card is stolen.
Regards Andrew.

Andrew,

It's easy to just turn over the credit card and copy the signiture that is there. So how is that secure. And only one business that I have made a purchase from in the last 12 months or so has actually checked my signature. So in saying that anyone could have used my credit card to make purchases.

Dust Devil

I have been using the above mentioned slide for about 2 years now and have been happy with it up until recently when the locking mechanism broke.

I commiserate with your long suffering wife - arthritis is indeed an irritating affliction. My SWMBO is also vertically challenged however she is fortunate to have a young man like myself to help her reach the dizzying heights. Your SWMBO must be made of strong mental fibre not to have been driven to a straight jacket and a padded room by this time.

It surprises me you would need a drop down fridge slide as your spring less droop carrier spends most of its time in pot holes in paddocks.

Another main concern will be locating the heavy metal fridge frame into the plastic and fibreglass modified ride you call a car.

I know in the past you were used to receiving and making payments using brown paper lunch bags, now is the time to move forward and use more modern means.

regards from the trusty and reliable Nissan and its owner Rossco.

Dude! you have returned.

Hope you had a great trip and are ready to start the daily grind at BP.

As usual you have it all wrong about the Fridge slide.

Firstly it is not going into the worlds Second best 4X4, but into the worlds best - a 2010 Toyota 200 twin turbo diesel.

Secondly I still have the Troopy and it has been 'suspension ripped out' free for quite some time now, especially seeing as SWMBO was aboard last time I did it. She still talks about it - reckons I gave her a pseudo hysterectomy.

Also still have the 05 KJ Jeep which is the worlds third best 4x4 (LOL) Great shopping trolley for SWMBO.

Sadly I had to retire the old Datsun Blue Bird Stn Wagon that I had for 30 yrs since new. Again on orders of SWMBO who hasn't been the same since I buried the subject vehicle one night in a flash flood in Melbourne's Southern Suburbs, in March this year.

Long stor,y but suffice to say that as I turned into our Daughters street the water came up over the bonnet and stopped the motor (LPG)

So I opened to door to get out and push the sucker to higher ground, when the water flowed straight in all over SWMBO private bitz and some.

She still talks about constantly as well - 'The time I tried to drown us.'

Anyway, catch you later

DD

DD,

If you were a gentleman, you would not send your SWMBO to get your drinks out of the fridge for you and then you wouldn't have needed to bother with that expensive slide gizmo.

Anyway, I do agree with you about the credit system we seem to have allow to fester over the past 100+ years. It defies logic that we should expect a manufacturer or wholesaler to fund the retailers' purchasers. If everybody just paid when they purchased we'd have a very much better economy me thinks.

Aaaaaaaaw! Rochie

I just refuse to call you Roach"ee" just cause you are the one and only multi millionaire in Kadina who can afford to build himself the Casa of all Casa's del Roach.

Also after seeing the things you send you SWMBO to do for you, I wouldn't be raising such a subject on this forum.

As for the Credit issue, I agree with you whole heartedly.
