hi everyone,
My partner and I are after work in caravan parks. We are currently at
broome and are heading to
alice springs.
Can anyone suggest how to go about finding the vacancies?
We scan the paper but no such luck, and www.workaboutaustralia.com has not had anything.
Any information or advice would be great thanks!

Whats so hard about sending resumes or making a phone call to parks that are in areas that you are likely to visit?
When I was travelling I found the best method was to front up ,find the boss and ask him/her.
They like to see if you are physically capable

Hi "Summah" ....
As you are probally thinking it is not just that simple to send ahead and/or just "pop" in as you probally would like to plan your trips on the availability of work and not chase dead ends..... poping in without warning may get you a job but trust me it is not the best way, why do i say that, we get a lot of people "poping" in looking for work here and we would rather a system where they can jump on line and send in a resume before they get here.......
Caravan parks are at there peak this time of the year and will have heaps of people asking for work and they will not be short of workers so they will not pay that
well at all, most i know at the moment have "temp residents" that are working just for a few hours to cover there site fees as accomodation is so hard to get ................ they turn people away until they get someone desperate to do it for "free" to cover fees and they are then set....
Try getting on to "redbanana" dot com, they do have a lot in and around Alice, there are others, do a search under "remote jobs" or the town you wish to visit (google)... seek will have heaps as will careerer one and my careerer .....
Good luck

I have friends who are in that line of work, managing motels / caravan parks etc. I don't think they had that much trouble finding work but probably more trouble finding
places where the owners are actually good to work for or
places that pay a reasonable amount (for a couple anyway).
I know they have their own website set up but I'm not sure how they go about finding work, so can't help you out much. Apart from saying that word of mouth probably goes a long way, so just talk to people you meet, tell them what you do etc. You never know when someone might know of someone etc etc. I guess like anything once you're established and hopefully have a good reputation then I imagine it might become a little easier.
The only thing is that rather than trying to get work where you want to go I guess you might have to go where the work is and hopefully get to where you wanted to go eventually rather than straight away?
But that depends on how flexible you are and if you have other skills, cleaning work for example wouldn't be too hard to find in most
places, and it could be a way to get your foot in the door.
One of my early jobs when I was a fair bit younger was as a Housekeeper at one of the
places in Alice, Heavytree Gap Resort.

Hi Summah
I suggest you telephone the caravan parks in your target area. If they sound interested, offer to send them your resumes. Also contact NT Parks, as they use volunteers as cleaners in some parks in return for accommodation or powered sites, but i think some of the busier jobs have remuneration. The voluntary jobs can be of short duration.
We have been at caravan parks (such as
Derby WA, Kings Canyon NT and
Lawn Hill in Qld) where the cleaners/ground staff and sometimes reception are caravanners who work there for the tourist season. These are usually couples who come back to the same
park each year, and we have spoken to some who have said it is likely to be their last season. You would therefore most likely need to be looking at next year's winter season to expect any vacancies.
