You can tow a 1100kg van with a Commodore even.

Have look on "red Book" for specs of different vehicles.

I think he may be confused!

Only wants to tow a 1100Kg max van but concerned about a Rodeo with a 2.8 ton towing capacity.

I recently picked up a 2003 triton 2.8l to pull a 1600kg van, pulls it along nicely. Picked it up for 9k. Was looking for 80's series cruiser, but for my price range (about the same as yours), they were all rubbish. The Triton seems to be pretty good bang for the buck.

There are plenty of 3 ltr 2000 - 2003 diesel Patrols out there they'll give you bang for your bucks!!! Only joking, the Rodeo is a great unit. I drove them frequently during my working days mainly in the outback & they just kept going and performed extremely well. It depends on what your situation is. Is there just you and partner? Children? What creature comforts would you like. If there is only two of you a rodeo would be fine but if it's real comfort you want & a nice vehicle to drive the 2.8 I/C T/D Pajero is a great car & will handle the weight admirably. The Triton is good too however the turning circle is as good as the HMAS Melbourne.

cheers for your replies everyone. the pajero would be ideal by the sound of it as we have a young daughter with us but there aren't too many turbo diesel's around at the moment. there seems to be alot of 3lt jackaroos around but have heard things about problems with their engines. all advice is greatly appreciated.
