Hell everyone.

Ive bought a sept 2000 GU2 patrol at a auction for a cheap price it has a 3.0litre turbo diesel in it.

The engine was supose to be seized but when i pulled it apart i found the conrod journals were a bit melted but the crank shaft is in great.

im lookingat doing a full rebuild including pistons rings bearing the full kit.

Ive heard there was some problems with them. But with me replacing most of the internals and so forth am i likely to get rid of the old problems that these motors had.

What was it with the sump that needed to be modfied.?????????

How do i run this motor in as well when its all finished.?????

If i can get as much info as possible it would be great.

Short answer is no, plenty of these motors have been rebuilt professionally only to have them implode again, Some say its overboost caused my MAF and there are varying other theories.

There is a heap of info on the whole thing and also steps you can take to reduce the possibility of another failure. Enjoy your grenade.
