I have heard from a couple of "dealers" they will not touch Ford Transit deisels prior to I think about 2003 / 2004 as far as Motorhomes go - I assume this was when there was a change of motor or gearbox in the series - was it from a 2.5L deisel and 5 speed box to a 2.4L deisel and a 6 speed box???
As always interested in experienced opinions.
Ken

That's because they don't have one in stock Ken.
If they could make a buck out of it they would be in it.

Yes -
well there is always that problem with sales people isn't there. What they don't have is crap, and what they have is the best. Until you talk to the sales person in the next sales yard ....
Thanks

All I've ever heard about transit diesels has never been good.
My father inlaw bought one I'd guess before that year, maybe even around a 99 model, it runs ok although he had the injection pump recoed and a new fuel pump fitted, which could be normal wear and tear.
But I've heard 30 year old diesel trucks a hell of a lot quieter, the racket that thing makes in the morning is scary, I've honestly never heard an engine that loud before!
Overall it's a good rig, I guess time will tell. I did tell the wife I wished I'd had of known he was buying it as I would have warned him first, although we never used to get along that
well anyway!
Cheers wayne

We have one at work and its a piece of crap. It goes hard but its always off the road being fixed. Everything breaks, door handles the most. Problems starting it all the time, engine light always coming on, i would stay away from them. Its the 6 speed model and was purchased brand new and it gets serviced by the book and
well looked after. But it doesnt return the favour

I heard bad things about Sprinters too - but in this case from the man that
services all our cars in the business - he had a family member that had a fleet of Sprinters and they cost him a fortune in maintenance - changed to a fleet of Transit's and had no issues whatsoever.
So there you go ??? So far I found the Transit's the most comfortable for my frame size - but I will go try on some Sprinters and Iveco's for size again.
Thanks.

Hi Ken
We Have a 2003 truck long bed, for the business with a 2.5 Lt. in it, purchased second hand, and love it, very quiet and starts first time every time.
At this time We would by another one if could find a long bed with low Km.
Cheers.
