My research tells me
Dalhousie Springs has "highly mineralised water".
This term means different things to different people. Can anyone on the
forum give me a better idea of what the
water is like there. What minerals are there would be even better.
OK certainly not looking at drinking the
water but I'm looking at the idea of a simple electrolysis from the 12 volt battery so see if this will reduce the mineral content.
Any thoughts?

Why bother when you can fill with good
drinking water at the
bore on the
creek to the west as you come in. There is a tap and hose to fill containers and tanks.

Thank you Peter. I did not know there was
water there. Nowhere did my research tell me this.

3 O'Clock Creek, the
water was beautiful and is extremely easy to access - suggest u take a garden variety snap on fitting and short (1m) hose. Hopefull the screw on tap bayonet is still there as
well.

Hi Carl
There is also a rain
water tank at the
toilet block for personal use only.
Cheers

Hey guys. Sounds like your about where i want to be in a week or two. I see a lot of reports about
Oodnadatta track being pretty much closed. We are wanting to come through the Simpson from
Birdsville. Is it likely to remain closed in around 10 days time ??

And to answer your original query re electrolysis, it wouldn't help, and may even make that type of mixture worse to drink. Either desalination (by reverse osmosis) or full ion exchange are the only solutions, and not easily made by the typical traveller.
