Good morning all from downtown Blackall Qld
In our Caravan we have a 3 year old Suburban Hot Water Storage Heater Model SW6DA and it has suddenly decided to stop working
We have checked the gas supply, all OK, checked the that the heater is trying to spark up and ignite gas.
The supplier says we shouldn't be having any problems at all with a unit this new. Has anyone had this happen and was there a simple solution?
Regards

Hi Peter
I had this problem once ,it was my water pump water was to low in tanks to pump
Your pump connection fuse could be damaged.
Hope this might help

There is a reset button, it's the right hand one of two rubber "buttons" set into a rubber rectangle right in the middle of the HWS.

Have you tried that?

Googling "Suburban hot water troubleshooting" and "manuals" brings up a lot of useful info.

cheers

I'm glad I ain't too scared to be lazy

The reset button does not seem to work
I have had a look at the fuses and wire connections and they seem OK
Sounds like I will have to order some parts from the supplier Coast to Coast I will start with a new circuit board which they say I can fit & if that doesn't work a new solenoid which a plumber has to fit.
Sounds expensive, but there doesn't seem to be anyone out in this country that can help
Many thanks anyway

Guessing and ordering bits you are not sure is going to fix the problem will be expensive and painful. The ignition board and gas solenoid seldom give a problem. You can buy an ignition board for 20% price of Coast to Coast RV from the US.

You need to check if there is voltage getting to the ignition board and many other checks prior to buying bits. If you can find somebody there that knows what they are doing you can put in a temporary switch to open the gas solenoids and manually light the gas burner.

Ignition boards out of many other appliances will work if you can find a gas fitter or electrician that knows what they are doing. Ignition boards are generic interchangeable items. Many sell Dinosaur Electronics ignition boards. You could fit an ignition board from a Swift stove.
