Hi.

Any one know how, or if you can use the "idle up" switch to increase eng RPM once the engine is at running temp. It sets the revs at an ideal point to charge batteries id you have been camped for a few days. At the moment you only get around 5 mins. Any way of by passing the temp sender that makes the idle switch inoperative.

Thanks

I do not know about 200s but I would be surprised if it had an idle up switch .

Nearly all electronic injection cars have idle control by a IAC( inlet air control valve )driven by the ECU. if it has an IAC, then it would be hard to step the idle up.
If it does have an Idle up switch connected to the accelerator spindle then it is a simple matter to just wire in a 12v wire through a switch to the + side.

Probably then desirable to put a diode in to stop back power to the original trigger source.

Just thought that Toyota do things weirdly and it may earth through the ECU and the earth be closed or open circuit. If you do not know how to check these things then I suggest you take it to an auto electrician.

Had hoped to do the same thing Simon C wants to do but on a 97 jeep.

U.S. Police versions of the cherokee had a negatively earthed contact in the PCM/ECU to bump up the idle for battery charging/rad fan speed when stopped with all the lights flashing.

So its possible .... but whether toyota has the facility is another matter ..... and aust market cherokees didnt seem to have the programming for it either ..... after doing all the wiring .....

A hand throttle made from a pushbike gear lever and cable is the next best thing though ...... altho bricks are handy for wheel chocks too ... lol

A bit of brick carefully placed on the accelerator will acheive the same without any cost.

If its got Aircon it would have a idle up of some sort for when the Aircon is on
keep looking.

cheers Phil.
