Plenty Highway Crossing

We are looking at comming back from Alice Springs on the 19th Sept, and want to come acroos the Plenty Highway instead of going up through Mt Isa. Has anyone done this road recently who can give some advice on it's condition? We'll be towing our off road caravan.
Anyone interested in joining us if it's safe to cross?

Road in fairly good condition as long as it is not raining, friend coming from Brisbane rolled his jackeroo last week due to rain and mud. I went out to recover his gear 2 days later and road has dried out. Just need to check just prior to leaving Alice by ringing Mt Hart Police Station to check road condition and if it is raining, road condition chanes over night due to rain.
Many have been caught out and some have paid the ultimate price (this year) to save some kilometres.

We are sitting in Boulia now comming from the west, so we have just come of the plenty yesterday. We drive an 80 series landcruiser and towing an offroad goldstream camper and had no problems. The wet seems to have made a few spots a bit rough, but still we saw cars driving the road at places. The graders are working parts of the track too, so some parts were 50km/h rough while some spots were begging me to go over 100km/h.
Enjoy the ride
