Holland Track

Hi ,just wondering how the Holland track between Hyden and Coolgardie is to travell on .
Is it to overgrown to travel it with a small off road van slightly wider than a vehicle?

Mmmmm Garny. A few stories about taking a van on the Holland. A search will pick up a lot of threads to wade through, but if you include 'Captain' in the search, you will read his tale. We chose not to take our F250 on most of it because of width issues, and we sustained scratches on some of the parts we did. The area winding through the trees could be difficult with a caravan.

There is quite a lot of scratchy & squeezy stuff, although these pics don't show it.
We were towing a boat on an off road trailer.

Don't unless the van has chequer plate sides and top edges as you will sustain extensive damage. Very narrow and overgrown in many places, unlike Peter's pics above. If it is wet give it a miss totally. We had scrub hard up against the sides of the Humvee which is a lot lower overall than a van but of a similar width.

At last weeks Track Care meeting the Holland Track was discussed, in particular the amount of deep ruts and the build up of tracks around the wet and badly rutted areas.

So expect some deep ruts, possible deep muddy bits and narrow portions that could cause damage.

As an option there are many tracks near the Holland Track that head in the general North South route between Coolgardie and Hyden. Check your maps/GPS and enjoy.
