5 years sounds good to me - ours in not quite 12 months old and has just failed, ekkk... AC delco has a 12mth warranty but we are on the other side of Oz to the receipt.

Hullo Ian and Sue
Do you know what your charge voltage was/is?
My understanding is that ACDelcos need higher voltages to charge properly.
Did you regulalry put them on a 240v charger?
I have 3 ACDelco house batteries on the boat and they have lasted 9 years and still OK.
Cheers
Andrew

have you tried a ac delco delco distributor and possibly find the receipt later as they are usually stamped or have someone fax a receipt to the store and or have one picked up somewhere closer .

.
about half the time you've been gloating...lol.. I8)

5 years is fantastic... i've been averaging 12 months before a cold snap, corrugation, corrosion, oxidization, bad earth, overuse, regualtor fail, etc etc..ruins them.....

but then, ive been out full time, in very harsh conditions...

Hi smokie,
I'd say 5 years is a good run,
I haven't owned the Cruise from new, only the last 6 years, The first battery, AFAIK lasted 8 years and the second one was not to far short of that either.
Where as I've replaced 2 in four years.
I use a Supercharge N70ZZL atm because they come with a 48 month warranty.
With all the pressures put on them these days, I'm surprised they have lasted as long as they have.
In a couple of months I will add a second under the bonnet.

Nine years..cant complain about that....In the wet season we go through 2 batteries per genset onsite...13 gensets in total....heat kills them...But 5 years is a good run for a battery. Well I would be happy if i got that out of my deep cycle...My 2c worth.

Cheers
Simon.

I regularly get around the 5 years (within a cuppla months either way) out of the batteries in my "other" car (a 1984 Peugeot 505 STI). I use almost exclusively Century old style batteries...ie...gotta service them regularly.
I have only had my current Patrol a cuppla years...so only time will tell with it.

Cheers Keith

5 years is pretty good. I assume you have a deep cycle battery as your second battery?

Batteries don't like.

1. Heat. (Thats why lots of new cars come with a shroud around the battery & draw air from outside the engine area)
2. Deep discharge. (Lead acid batteries last longer if you keep em topped up. Best if you don't go less than 50% discharge capacity)
4. Shaking around due to incorrect clamping down.
3. Voltage drop in the charge circuit.

When I lived on the road for 2 years I was amazed by the amount of dodgy installations I saw which were the cause of voltage drop. Even a drop of less than 1 volt from the 14.4 or so volt optimum charging voltage will significantly reduce the storage capacity.

Your installation sounds like it's ok

smokie
Mine died the day after we got back into Alice, after a big trip, and sometimes very corrugated roads, ie the Canning, the Gibb River Road, the road into the Bungles, Wolfe Creek Crater, and do not forget the Gunbarrell

15 months old ...
Bit of a shame that, but it really is the luck of the draw...

Some do last, some don't last, and brand name means nothing.

The one in the camper trailer has been in for 5 years, and covered every rough track I can chuck at it. Still going strong...

Go figure ?...........As I said the luck of the draw.

Cheers

5 years is about average for a deep cycle battery - although with tender loving care they can last longer.

we've never had any of the Fullriver's fail or come back to us.
