The road train driver said in the paper this morning that minesite vehicles are a big danger on the road.
I must agree as having just completed over 8000klms through the
Pilbara and
Kimberley we saw many loonies behind the wheel of
mine vehicles but the worst seemed to be Fritz in Britz treating all roads as autobahns!
We know they were Fritz as we met them at several roadhouses and saw them in the Bungle Bungles.
Police presence on the roads was as always virtually negligible except for about 15 vehicles shadowing bikies heading North towards Minilya.
I suppose that kept them occupied and saved many a motorist a ticket for a minor speeding offence.
Alan.
PS.
Darwin award went to the SA registered Hilux ute (father, mother +2 kids) using the
Spring Creek track out of the Bungles as a race track ......overtaking on crests and the wrong side of the road on bends etc. No regard for anyone else on the road or even his kids safety.
