We are heading down the Sandy Cape Track on the West Coast of Tassie this Summer. What sort of flies, mozzies and other insect pests are we likely to encounter and if so what works to avoid them? Please, only serious replies thanks!!

Ahhh, I was going to suggest you stay away from creeks and such as the Platypi are very large down there.

Hi Chris and Lindsay,
That was my old playground down around that area many moons ago. Had a shack at Sundown Point for years and if 4wdriving was on the agenda it was either down to Balfour or the Cape.
Could get a few March Flies in Summer but the biggest concern was Quicksand on the Northern end of the Beach, mainly on the creek crossings. Travel in company with appropriate recovery gear and you should be OK.
A beautiful area of Tassie.
