The Esplanade
Hi
We have a roof top tent and have a few questions.
Our mattress tends to get damp and has condensation between the top of the floor and the underside of the mattress.(before anyone has a go, I don't have bladder issues. lol)
Also, we have the annexe that zips on to form a room under the extension and 1/2 the floor. Have found that when it's raining, that it leaks were the floor zips onto the sides. Water enters along the stitching.
Anyone else have these issues, and is there a way to fix them?
It is an ARB copy version.
Regards

Under the mattress put a sheet of EVA or PE foam. Something like EVA 30 or PE 30. You can get it from clarke rubber of a camping
shop. Crazy Clarkes have them as
well. Those foam rubber ground mats. The EVA 30 is the best as it is the softest. The mattress in a Roof top is usually 40mm thick or 29-200 grade foam. This allows you body heat to pass through the mattress to the floor below. Silicone the mat to the wooden floor.
For the leaking water try "Thompsons water seal". In a 1 litre can from Bunnings. On a dry way wipe it on with a car sponge, leave it to dry for 30 minutes and do it again. Be generous in the amount.

G'day
We've just finished a trip to the centre with nights down to near zero and experienced the same thing most nights. I assume it's caused when the tent base temperature drops below dew point. The moisture was never to an extent where we felt it while sleeping and it did dry quickly. When I got
home I taped some insulation material left over from the shed to the whole floor. It's like bubble wrap about 4mm thick with silver coating on one side and gold on the other. Haven't had time to
test it yet, but I'm confident it will be ok.
By the way, it's our first trip with the Howling Moon, and we found it to be fantastic. No leaks in the rain or flapping in the wind. Weather was generally good so the annexe didn't even come out of the bag.
