Mapmerge for Ozi Explorer: Why does it quit with low memory error message?

Hi and hope someone has an idea. BTW am Dieter from good old Germany and always wanted to go Ozi-Land but guess his board is not especially for Ozi Explorer questions. Anyway - you have an idea, why my Mapmerge Tool for the Ozi Explorer alway shuts down saying:

Start : 09.09.2010 09:56:24

End : 09.09.2010 09:56:25

Elapsed Time (hh:mm:ss) : 00:00:01

And giving me an error message, that the program has
not enough memory which is epating than as the program crashes.

It has run on my machine before and with big nimbers of maps I merged.
Blessed (?) time and thx for answer if you have.
Dieter from Esens, Northern Germany.
Hopefully in Ozi Land one day, right now stucked in Map Merge Ozi Land.

Hi Dieter,

Whilst it may not help answer the question directly, the latest development version of Oziexplorer (3.96.4a) has seamless map integration. For certain australian mapsets it is easier to load the appropriate maps into Oziexplorer this way, though it is in early development stages.

It may pay to also check out the
Good luck with the task at hand.

Ok solved the problem with help of a german gps board. Mapmerge has a border of 2 GB maximum which it can produce. Are there too many maps you choose, as choosen and marked on the thumbnails, it may take also maps which are not choosen with checkboxs in the right list of all sub maps - so you need to take care, I need to take care not to chose too much maps and not to combine both choose methods as the graphically choosen maps seem to overlay the manually check box choosen ones if more than one map is done and stored in a folder and seen in mapmerge. Not sure but as I now only used the check boxed, it works.

Please see also, that Map Merge is changing the north south accurance a bit, as I just read on that gps board. Which leads to inaccurate maps merged, position might be precise but not the north south stuff, but not sure how big and imoportant that is, will try ad test and write here, how it is compared with the smaller part maps. If I can. Cu.

FWIW

I use MapMerge for OziExplorer v1.15 often.

My largest mapset to date using Mobile Atlas Creator - Google Maps - Zoom level 16 - North Island, New Zealand.
The resulting map created by MapMerge is 1.6GB.

If I attempt to create the map using the default Mobile Atlas Creator image format (24bit PNG) I immediately have the same error.
I convert these PNGs to TIF format using irfanView batch mode & modify the matching .map file using a text edtor, again in batch mode.
MapMerge is now happy and converts - at times 3000+ individual maps without any issues.
