Has anyone fitted a Tigerz11 9000lb winch into the std Nissan GU bullbar ( winch compatible)? I was lucky enough to win one and I have not received it as yet but am contemplating whats ahead. Not sure if I'll need a mounting plate or not??
any comments welcome

Hi Madcow.
You will probably find that the original bullbar is not winch compatible. You will also need a winch plate to sit the winch on. This plate sits between the front chassis members.
The best way to find out is to go to your nearest dedicated 4wd store and ask them.

From what I understand the Tigerz is identical to the Ironman winch. If so, it will bolt straight onto the Nissan winch compatable bar, but as it bolts on a vertical plane you will have to rotate the winch gearbox about 90 degrees so that you can reach the clutch lever. From memory, you have to remove the two allen key bolts from the gearbox end of the chrome bars that the solenoid box sits on, then remove all the small allen key bolts on the end of the gearbox. this enables you to rotate the housing.

Stevo is correct, we fitted one to
mine this year and that is exactly what we had to do, no need to remove the bar too.
Cheers

I have 12,000lb Tigerz11 winch fitted to my 2003 GU with the std nissan steel winch bar. Had to rotate the geabox as mentioned above and also had to remove the bullbar to fit it, not sure if you'll need to with 9,000lber. Also needed to get 2 longer HT bolts to fit through the hawse fairlead and winch bar mount and into the winch.
Regards,
Darren

any idea what size bolts? I have ready access to some and would help save a bit of time chasing them up?

Hello madcow
When you get your winch mounted I am curious to know how it all works,I fitted a Premier winch to my Patrol in the 4 holes that are already in the bar. I found that where the cable comes off the drum and travells up about 80mm to go over the fairlead it made the cable very hard to pull out,so I removed the winch and drilled 4 new holes to locate the winch as high as possible to reduce the distance the cable had to be dragged up and over the fairlead. It is now a lot easier to use.
good luck Wally

The way it is set up is with the 'feet' of the winch bolted forward through the bar , the top two also go through the fairlead so the pull of the line is pretty much straight off the winch and through the fairlead!!

Thanks guys i'll let you know how it goes. It has not yet turned up. My first winch by the sound s of it it is pretty straight forward. In all the years I've been 4wdriving there has only been about 6 times I wish I had one as we have managed to work around a sticky situation.

As it turns out it had been upgraded to the 10,000lb comp winch. Still have to rotate the gearbox 90 deg and it is not obvious to do this from first looks for this winch and I'm not sure if it is different to the 9,000lb versions or not.

Sadly the Winch is too big to fit in and i may have to offload it and get the 12,000lb version to allow it to fit straight in.
