I am looking at replacing my 1995 2.8TD rodeo(TF), can anyone shed some light on the difference between the 3.0 Itd nad 3.0 VCDI engines and any problems etc.

From the resource I have done the 3.0 TDI prior to the new CRD (VCDI) is a good motor, seems they lacked in the power depend meant. Now the old 3 litre did not have an mechanical issues, the new one which is used in the Colorado/Isuzu D-Max are so far way ahead in fuel consumption than all the other crd 4X4.
The old 3.1 TD which we have in our MUs is a great motor but old tech still with out to much work I am getting 400 NMs of torque. Next vehicle for me will be a Isuzu D-Max, I think they may have a new motor coming shortly.

Well haven't got either but am looking at both.
3.0ITD was the Rodeo RA that had the old style diesel engine and discontinued in 2006 with figures as follows:
» Max. Torque: 280Nm @ 2400rpm
» Max. Power: 96kW @ 3800rpm
3.0 VCDI is the common rail intercooled turbo diesel came out 2007 for a year or two before it was replaced by the Colorado, figures as follows:
Max. Torque: 360Nm @ 1800rpm
» Max. Power: 120kW @ 3600rpm
Also, as a point of difference, if your engine, apparently, ingests too much of a "bad" batch of diesel, if it's the old style (RA) then you just run it out and put some good diesel in, if you try and run it out in a common rail (VCDI) you may be up for some very expensive injector replacement. For my now dead hilux the injectors were $175.00 each, but on the common rail diesel hilux, injector replacement costs about $4000.00.
