Just wondering if any has had/found stress fractures in the floor of their wagon under the roller draws?
If you have, how did you repair/strengthen the area?
I took the Outback roller draws out of my Patrol this morning in preparation for getting the sub
tank replaced on Monday.
After taking them out I found stress fractures and small splits in the metal floor of the wagon.
This is in two areas of the floor, under the forward edge of the draw system, where the two poly blocks sit, that keep the roller draws level.
Now have to get the areas welded up and strengthened.
I will take it over to Coastal 4WD on Tuesday and see what they say, however does anyone know a good welding place around the Canning Vale area?
Cheers
Shawn

Looks like a basic design fault with the drawers' mounting system to me.... they appear to have too-small a foot-print. What I mean is that (IMHO) they should have a larger base "foot" which would cover at least twice that area indicated by the rectangular indent.
It reminds me of the expensive PWR radiator I fitted to my GU Patrol many years ago. It was a beautiful piece of equipment and held about twice as much coolant as a standard radiator. However, on a trip to
Cape York, the weight of it sitting on the 2 rubber base grommets, punctured the base of the
tank and I had to have it welded in Seisa. It needed to have a larger/thicker base plate in that area where it sat on the 2 rubber base grommets. After being strengthened it was all okay.
So, I would recommend getting it welded up then alter the base plates before re-fitting the drawer set-up.
Good luck.

Hi Shawn,
What sort of weight do you have in the draws and how rough is the roads you normally travel.

Roads over the last seven years are no more than the normal corrugations you get at
Cape York,
Birdsville track,
Pilbara, Kimberly's. Vehicle in more than capable of handling these roads, so no dramas there.
Weight in the draws, probably around (40-50kgs in each draw, on top of the draw system 60kgs of
water and another draw setup with around 10-15kgs in it. All this on the left side with fridge on the right, it weighing?
Amount of weight carried in and on the draw system would be around 200kgs. Not that heavy a load, however looking at the system setup at the fron,t the weight was supported by two poly blocks that are raised slightly more than the wagon floor.
For seven years the draw system has been sitting up on the poly blocks and trying to level itself against the floor, no wonder the weight of the draws was trying to force the poly blocks through the floor.
