G'day, 5days ago, from Warbuton to Olgas, pretty good, some damage near Docker River but not much. More rain may/will close it again.

heading out that way tomorrow but have just got off the phone to warburton roadhouse.
Road is closed in all directions and will be reviewed Monday morn, however more rain is forecast.
my advice would be to ring before you leave.

Just got a fax from NG Council office today
Warburton - Jamieson - Blackstone - Wingellina and Giles Mulga Park rd Closed to all traffic. To be re assesed 14/9 am
Great Central is open to the NT border ( check with NT for border to Yulara). Only had about 25mm rain here today, so far so good.
Had no faxes from Laverton Shire so presume all roads there are good.
Have fun, take it slow, watch for washouts

14/9 all open on the Ngaanyatjarraku Shire roads
only proceed with caution and watch for roadworks 50km from Warburton.
Laverton contact is the shire on 9031 1202

check the Bureau of Meteorology web site and get the radar and weather for Giles.

There is supposed to be more rain today, but hasn't happened yet.

The roads drain pretty fast, so 24hrs or so after rain should be OK.

In a good 4WD you should be OK, our delivery truck made it.

Keep a steady speed and keep to the crown of the road.

Run in Hi 4WD and keep your tyre pressures down - remember under 40 = under 80.

It is better to go steadily straight through the middle of water unless there is an OBVIOUS SOLID track around it.

If you stop for anything just stop in the middle on a straight stretch, makes for a quick bleep stop!

The sides of our road can be soft and slippery.

It is worth the trip to see the desert in flower and green.

Grumpy,

Thanks again for the info. We're in a 100 Landcruiser series with BFG muddies but we've never been through there before so just being a bit cautious.
We're leaving tomorrow morning and will check the BOM and here when we get to Kalgoorlie and make a decision from there.
Hopefully we will be able to do it, would love to see the desert in flower!
