Hi Everyone,
Just in
Weipa and on our way home to
Cairns and was going to drop into Lakefield on the way home.
Was going to come in from Musgrave but can anyone tell me if the crossing of Saltwater
Creek is tidal? Rather not take my car through salty
water if i can help it.
thanks
Richard

Richard - Tide comes to the causeway at Saltwater but this time of year you will not have to cross with any
water over the Causeway. When it is flowing the fresh beats the salt back anyway.
The Lakefield road may be starting to deteriorate this time of year. Hopefully you will get feedback on that.
Have fun doing the drive and another thing to consider is that it may be quite corrugated on the Battle
Camp Road (Old Laure to the Endeavor Valley/Hopevale Road) by now - If it is it can be quite a rough ride :-)
Cheers Tony

thanks for the info Tony, much appreciated. looks like we'll have another couple of days in
Weipa now because I think I bent something doing a rather t
steep exit of a
creek crossing of palm
creek. took a few goes and bounced my way up it. on the plus side it got rid of a knocking noise in the
suspension by seating in a new ball joint properly but on the down side I think I now need a wheel alignment. oh
well, all part of the fun.
thanks again
Richard

Richard - All good fun, no fun breaking the ride though :-)
Take it easy and watch out for the locals on the PDR, they tend to fly :-)
Actually there is also a lot of tourists that like to use all the road in Lakefield, be wary of cars coming round the bend on the wrong side of the road - (The corrugations are always better when driving on the other side of the road :-) - Cheers
