Retreat Caravan

Hi All

We are in the process of buying a Retreat Daydream Family Van about 22" I am going to order it with a 6" gal Chassis and Simplicity Suspension. I would like to hear from anyone who knows a bit about these vans to find out how they think they would go on corrugated roads keeping in mind the speed and tyre pressures. We don't want to do full offroad just some graded roads here and there. We will be towing with a 100 series TD Cruiser.

Thanks

Hi Bear,
We have traded a windsor in on a retreat daydream with simplicity suspension and 16 inch wheels to enable swap around with the cruiser, put Hyland hitch on too. Their is a second hand one in Groper RV WA that has just completed 30,000k's on gravel road never on bitumin and apart from red dust and a few stone chips it is in exellant condition. There may be one thing to watch that is when the suspension goes on it lifts the van 4 inchs we found that we don't have much room for adjustment on the Hayman reece towbar we are in top holes and our cruiser has 50ml lift above standard hight.

Hi Mate

Thanks for the heads up. We had a look at a retreat van that had 4" chassis and 4" Raiser with the simplicity suspension it lifted it a fair way off the ground. What chassis and raiser have you got? I am thinking about going with the 6" chassis with no riser.which should give us enough clearance for what we want.

Hi we went for the six inch chasis rails and you have to have 4inch raiser for the suspension. We removed the bottom bunk and replaced that with an external compartment for the engel 60lt and mum put in a twin tub washing machine instead of front loader weight saving and water saving, put the dual batteries on a slide so they come out near the awning for servicing and two solar panels, left out the dining area and replaced with recliners and fitted a hyland hitch in place of standard hitch and third water tank with filter system, outside sterio speakers, and sliding door to seperate bunk end of van instead of consatina door kind regards Alan.
