Hi all, when heading nth we usually stay for the first night in one of the Carnarvon CPs pending camping out for the rest of the trip.

However, looking at the maps there is a set of tracks to the sth of Carnarvon focussing around the Bush Bay area.

Does anyone know what the camping is like in this area pls?

Cheers.

John

It's a couple of years since we stayed at Bush Bay. Back then, depending on the time of year, there was a large number of semi-permanents, similar to Cape Kerauden near Karratha.

Fairly flat, some trees but when the king tides are coming many of the lower level sites have to be vacated.

Thks Paul. We'll be going up in two weeks.

Do you reckon it would have a crowd this time of the year - it's still pretty cool in Carnarvon.

Also, I got monstered by sandflies years ago at Keraudren; would BB suffer similar?

Cheers.

We camped at Bush Bay in Sept 2005 and barely got any sleep due to the gale force winds. There are some trees to hide amongst but we got in late and the spots were taken. This year in April the winds were OK and we free camped on a hill about an hour south of Carnarvon. It's in Camps 3......W

Agree with all of the above .
If you are looking for just an overnight there is a good stop with toilets aprox 60ks south of Carnarvon on the right going north.

Thks NB, I was actually looking for a pleasant spot to put up a tent rather than booking a chalet in the Carnarvon parks.

Cheers.

This is Bush Bay camping area. No tents as there are NO facilities at all. But very pretty.

Thks Carl, much apprec. for the photo.

I think I'll leave Perth early enough to look in on it and if it's not blowing a gutser and not too crowded I'll stay; otherwise it's the same boring old chalet sitn. I'm selfcontained for tenting as that's what we'll be doing everynight, once north of Carnarvon.

Cheers.

Hi JB,

It was quiet while we were there but we all know this can change.

This is the ocean there. Everyone reported the fishing was terrible all year.Image Could Not Be Found

This site seems to have reviewed quite a few camps around that area (with pics) -

www.lets-getaway.com - link to reviews at the top

Bush Bay is one of them and looks like it was reviewed only last month.

Hope this helps.

Not sure why it didn't work. I'm not real good with posting links.

Just type in www.lets-getaway.com and you'll have it.

Or click on Ed's link above. Thanks Ed.
