What is "15A auto wire"?
How big the wire needs to be depends on the maximum current drawn and the total length (including earth) from the battery and back again.
Voltage drop should be
well under 0.5V.
VOTLAGE DROP =
[cable length (in metres) X current (in amps) X 0.0164] divided by cable cross-section in mm.sq. (from Collyn Rivers)
Cheers,
Peter

Hello Ann
15amp wire isn't enough you need wire with 4 sq mm of copper in it.
You have to be careful as a common size of wire (probably what you have) is refferred to as 4mm wire but its really 2.5mm of copper covered with plastic which makes it up to 4mm.
If you can, get wire with 6 sq mm of copper. This is a common size and will allow you to run some others things as
well without having to go back and put in another wire.
Battery and trailer
places sell the wire.
As a rough rule of thumb 1 sq mm is rated at 7amp , so 4sq mm wire is often called 30 amp wire and 6 sq mm 50 amp wire.

Hi Ann D
We recommend TW60 twin core solar cable for fridge connections. This cable is 6mm2 and is excellent for fridges.
I use Anderson plugs, the 6mm2 is too heavy to easily connect into T plugs and sockets.
Regards
Derek from ABR

ABR and the others all make good points - make sure the copper is minimum 6mm.
Like ABR we use the twin core solar cable - then you can't go wrong.

Hi Ann D
I took the 'easy option' and purchased the Engel kit from
Ranger Camping for my Pajero.
Quite proud of my first effort into 'modifying' my vehicle - my mechanic gave it his tick of approval.
Been in for a year now and quite successful to date.
Cheers - Phil

I have seen the Engel kits on the shelf for sale in Repco for around $100 - $120 from memory. Makes it a simple job....

Ann
When using a 50 Amp Anderson plug with #6 Contacts, the recommended maximum cable that will fit is 6 AWG, so use 6 AWG and you will get the least possible voltage drop.

Ann
If you do a thread search for thread 79389 there is a chart there that might help you with auto wire sizes and what size you will require for the length of wire and current draw
