G'day, I am thinking of getting one of these, but would like to hear from others that have them, good and bad thanks. John

John,

I have the larger of the two models from Platinum drop slide. Nothing bad to say about them. Only downside is that they are very heavy in their own right and the price. Shook the hell out of mine and it survived well enough. Very easy to operate and even the Pocket Rocket can operate the slide with a fully loaded Engel 80 litre combo easily.

Wish I’d had one years ago.

Cheers Mick

John

After years of having the fridge slide as part of my Outback drawer system I decided to get the drop slide. Main reason is that I, at 6 ft can only just reach inside the fridge, and even then the lid can't open all the way due to the hatch door above. I used it on my last trip to Cape York so it had a 'real' test. My comments are:
*Quite heavy
*takes up more space than a conventional slide, (arms either side of the fridge)
* Make very sure it will fit your car, specially if you have a cargo barrier. In my 200 cruiser it actually overhangs the shelf of the drawers by 1cm
*Rattle proof, solid
*very easy to use - not once did we even think of taking the 'shortcut' to open the fridge without dropping it first.
* biggest downside is that it takes a lot of space in the back when the fridge is out, you don't have a flat boot area due to this contraption; ; So much so that I un-installed it after our big trip and will take the 30 mins to reinstall before the next

Hope this helps,

Cheers

If you get one John.
Do you think I could have a look at it to get some ideas if it will fit in the Pajero?
Cheers Andrew.

Hi John,

Installed the smaller model in the back of the Patrol on top of the Outback drawers prior to doing our recent Kimberley trip. No problems with it except of course the weight of the unit as mentioned above, but as said it can be easily removed if not being used. Not really an issue though. Seems well made and stood up to all the vibrations from the GRR and Kalumburu Road.

It has our tick of approval.

Some picks of it in the back of the Patrol.

Regards,
Darren

Wouldn't swap. The only hassle is what to do with the power cord. Its a nuisance until you figure out a way for your car. Just a nuisance that's all.

John,

I've fitted a few for customers. They are a well built, robust unit. As others have said they are heavy and bulky, but that is to be expected due to the design and mechanism.

Cheers,

Jim.
