Has any one been to the Sawn rocks in the Narrabri area?I will be in the area in October and was wondering where exactly it is and what the road is like for a family sedan.

cheers

It is east of Narrabri and easily accessible by a car.Well signposted. Nothing special is needed. A short walk from the car park.

g'day x_pac6969,
I am not sure of the exact geological description, but i am pretty sure it has something to do with the rate of cooling from volcanic reactions in days gone by.If you are capable, i walked around and had a look from on top years ago and it looked like a just about perfect set of hexagonal tiles( worth the look). Also the road from Bingara or Narrabri is all bitumen these days and a very good road for the family sedan, the bitumen leads you right to the car park with a short walk to the actual rocks.Toilets and bbq's in the parking area, at the moment with good rains about the road from both sides has been cut several times in the last few weeks.
Hope some of this helps.
Cheers John.

Mt Kaputar is worth a look if you're in the Narrabri area also.
