Does any one know if it is possible to do a modification on a older style caravan so i can put larger tyres on it and if so how much work is actually involved.
Are there any businesses in the Newcastle/Hunter area that anybody could recommend to have the job done.

Hi Trace and Paul,

Some people rotate their axle from being over the springs and fit them under the axle. This increases the height by the depth of the springs and the depth of the axles.

Having said that, any modifications to a vehicle from standard these days requires an engineers certification.

I cannot recommend anybody in the Newcastle area but perhaps a trailer repair place or even a normal mechanic could do it but it will require an engineer when finished and plated accordingly. afaik.

Currently helping with a motorhome conversion from LH drive to RH drive with my brother, his motorhome, his job. The Aust. Design Rules are complex and precise about what you can't and can do. But it emphatically states that any modifications have to be certified by an engineer.

Correction, should have said "some people rotate their axle from being over the springs and fit them under the springs.

Hi Trace and Paul,
We had some work done on our van at Central Coast Caravans at Tuggerah. The young bloke, Cameron, was very helpful. He would be able to give you an idea whether it is viable or not. Don't know whether this is too far away from you, but you could give him a buzz and have a chat to him.

Good Luck.
