MINOR FLOOD WARNING FOR RURAL AREAS ALONG THE
MURRAY RIVER DOWNSTREAM OF
TOCUMWAL AND EDWARD RIVER AT DENILIQUIN
Issued at 10:35 am EST on Tuesday 14 September 2010
by the Bureau of Meteorology, Victorian Regional Office
Minor Rural flooding continues downstream of Tocumwal after the
Murray River
peaked there on Saturday 11/9/10.
The level of the
Murray River at
Echuca is rising more slowly than expected and
is now predicted to peak near minor flood level (93.5 metres AHD) towards the
end of this week.
Predicted River Heights/Flows:
Deniliquin - peak near 5.5 metres around 21/9/10 with minor rural flooding
Echuca / Moama - peak near 93.5 metres (AHD) this Friday or Saturday with
minor rural flooding - note river levels will be close to
the peak for several days before the maximum level is
recorded.
Torrumbarry Weir - Peak around 7.5 metres around 21/9/10 with minor rural
flooding
Barham - peak near 5.8 metres around 23/9/10 with minor to moderate rural
flooding
In the interests of community safety the SES suggests following precautions:
* Don't walk, ride or drive through floodwater,
* Don't allow children to play in floodwater,
* Stay away from waterways and stormwater drains, and
* Keep
well clear of fallen power lines
