Hi all:
I will be in
Canberra on the October long weekend and will be baseing up at one of the local caravan parks.
I have just been through Badgers CP Reports and am stunned at the common thread of them all as being poor, dirty, unfriendly etc etc.
I am wondering if anyone has any recent experience staying in any of them that might persuade me to try one.
I cannot believe that with so many negative reports, one of them does not try and provide something of a positive experience for its customers and so gain some additional patronage. At this stage I will probably pull up on the side of the road rather than stay at any of them.
Thanks in advance.

You can try the EPIC Caravan
Park, but with Floriade on during this time you will be lucky.
EPIC is at the Exhibition
Park In
Canberra.

Jack, You could try the
Cotter Campground. Its out of town a bit but beside the Murrumbidgee so its quite an attractive spot.
Being a
Canberra local we haven't used any of the local CPs. There aren't a lot of them - the winter probably makes them only marginally economic.
But when there are big things on in
Canberra - like Floriade, Summernats, Folk Festival - they are big big, so any of the small number of CPs would be very busy, crowded and all of the other potentially unpleasant things that happen to van parks under such conditions.
EPIC is closest to most events, and the October LW will be busy, as said above, because of Floriade.
Cheers,
Val

I stayed in the
Canberra Motor Village for 4 nights last September. Friendly staff and oldish ,but clean facilities. No problems staying there again if I needed to.
Whilst it is a little out of the centre of things it is easy to get to and quiet enough at night. Drive thru sites as
well.

This one has our vote as
well. All sites are drive through and it is, the closest to the centre of town.

If EPIC not available, try Riverside C/P at Queanbeyan - small but clean, otherwise no joy.
Only other suggestions would involve a small drive into
Canberra from a couple of parks which are located between
Goulburn &
Canberra and are on the Federal Highway, both are at Sutton NSW and known as (a) Capital Country Holiday
Park & (b) Eaglehawk Holiday
Park.

Jack,
I suggest also the Riverside at Queanbeyan. Quite spot, good ammentities and only about 15-20 min to the centre of
Canberra. Always heaps of caravans there which is a good
sign. I go past it most days to work.

Thank you all for your helpful suggestions. Should now have it sorted by tomorrow. As usual, this
Forum has proven to be invaluable for the info it provides from the good people who come here.

While the one on the Queanbeyan River is good it is small and often quite crowded. I had rellies down from FNQ for my daughter's wedding some time back and they put their van a Crest View CP also in Queanbeyan. They reckoned that it was definitely one of the cleaner, quieter and friendlier parks that they stayed in on the trip.
