Hi Everyone, If you have a Nissan Patrol that is not yet 6 years old with a bubbling dash, Nissan has sent a letter to dealers saying they will replace it at no cost. I had mine replaced recently by Sunshine Coast Nissan at Currimundi in QLD and my Patrol is 4 years old and out of warranty.

Thanks for letting us know, RonMc.Mine is bubbling along the window side of the dash. I had the Patrol at the dealers last week for a service and they didn't mention it. I will definitely have it replaced at the next service. My Patrol is not yet 6 years old (I think it's around 5 years).

Thanks for the update RonMc,

If a have interpreted your post correctly, Nissan supplied AND fitted the new dash at no cost (please correct me if that isn't the case).

I have a 2005 GU and recently had the dash replaced too. Unfortunately, my tale is not as full of sunshine as yours ! Whilst Nissan supplied the dash at no cost, they declined to cover the cost of installation. It cost me around $350 to have my local dealer (DC Motors - Rockhampton) remove the acne riddled old one and install the bright, shiny new one (which I thought was a reasonable fee - even though I wasn't happy about paying it). I am not dissatisfied with the dealer - just with Nissan Australia.

Has Nissan Australia issued a new circular to their dealers accepting responsibility for the full cost of the replacement (including installation) ??? If so, I think that I should be entitled to recoup my expenses from them !

Looking forward to your response.

Vince.

Hi Folks, Ron Mc here. I was told I would have to pay $400.00 labour to have my dash replaced and I did not accept that because it was a common fault of manufacture. I went home and found the phone number of Nissan Australia on the web site and phoned. First up I got a young fellow that was useless, so I hung up and rung back and got a person who knew how to deal with a customer complaint. After a bit of twoing and frowing she said that she would authorise my dealer to replace my dash free of charge. Two days later my dealer rang to tell me that Nissan had sent a letter authorising dealers to replace BUBBLING DASHBOARDS on any Nissan Patrol under 6 years of age.
If you have a bubbling dash and your Nissan Patrol is under 6 years old, go get um and have it fixed FREE. They will not come and find you.
Regards Macca

Great News (and a big Thumbs Up to my local Nissan Dealer and Nissan Australia),

After a lodging an enquiry with my local dealer (DC Motors Rockhampton) on Monday (4th October) I received a phone call yesterday advising me that Nissan Australia (NA) had approved the reimbursement of the money I paid to have the replacement dash installed (in May this year). Whoo Hooo ! Today I fronted at the dealership as arranged and the FULL AMOUNT of the installation fee was refunded to my credit card.

I know it's really easy to "sink the boot" into Dealers and NA at times but, in this instance, I am pleased to throw them a bouqet. Yes, I know that it is a widespread, well documented problem and Yes !, I do think that they (NA) should have been a little more cooperative far earlier than they were - BUT, I am happy with the outcome.

Thanks HEAPS to all who have pursued this over the years and posted the details of the their ordeals for the rest of the Patrol community to leverage off.
Go people power !!!

Vince.

Ours gets replaced in around 10weeks (going away for approx 5 of those) and nissan is paying for all costs. Only thing I have to do is remove all accessories from the dash. BTW ours has the pimples on the drivers side of the dash.
