Hi all,

Just purchased Oziexplorer and Natmaps 2008 from the shop. I have installed them both on my desktop pc, and obviously want to do the same on my laptop.

I am having problems installing Natmaps on my laptop, it keeps coming up with an error message. The laptop runs Windows 7 Home premium, is there a known compatibility problem with Win 7? All went well with Win XP on the PC.

Thanks in advance, Dave

Bushwackers,
There should be no issue with the two seperate licenced products you purchased?

Hi Von Helga,

When I try to install Natmaps on the laptop, it gets to a certain point, then comes up with the error message:

Error Writing to File:
C:\Program files\Natmap\Natmap raster viewer\1.6\Maps\250k-mosaic\natmapdvd1-250k.ecw
Verify that you have access to that directory.

If I go to 'Typical' install, I can install the Natmap viewer by itself, but nothing else is loaded. When I try 'Complete Installation', it gets partway through, then comes up with the above error message. Oziexplorer installed correctly, and as I said, Natmaps went on Win XP fine.

Thanks for your reply, Dave

Try this,

Right click on the installer file, click on the compatibility tab then select "Run in XP mode". Also check" run this program as an administrator".

That will probably work.

Hi Boobook
I have finally found on the Natmaps website that this is a recognized problem, as the main operating system of the time when Natmaps 2008 was released was Win XP, and the installer is designed to work with that system.

There is a way around it, but a bit time consuming, and cumbersome, but I will give it a go tonight.

Thanks for your reply and info, Cheers, Dave

Are you wanting to install Natmaps to view the maps in their viewer or install Natmaps to only use in Ozi.

If you only want to use them in Ozi them all you have to do is copy the ecw files onto your hard drive then import the files through Ozi. Ozi will set up the maps files from the meta data included in the ecw file.

Windows7 is therefore not an issue with this install.

Hi, get outmore and zebra,

Yes, all I want to use natmaps for is Ozi, and yes, I have copied all the files manually... thats the problem when you read instructions! I just did what the dvd said, lol.

I assumed that by going through the installation process, that it would automatically set the file path so Ozi could locate the maps, rather than having to look for them... not required, as you have said. Not interested in the Natmap viewer.

So, now all is working, thanks to all who have assisted

Cheers, Dave
