Over the weekend I was going through a number of DVD’s and came across a historical film called the ‘Great unfenced’. This probably is one of the few copies now available in Australia that depicts life on Billiluna Station before ownership was transferred to the aborigines.
The station manager shown in the film was a mate of
mine, but we had a falling out a couple of years ago, so I don’t know if the cranky old buggar is still alive.
Unfortunately I don’t have the technical knowledge to transfer a 30 minute DVD onto this site and need your help because I think this film nas great historical value and would be of interest to many people. I’m also going to donate it to the
Longreach Hall of Fame.
I can be contacted at home on (03) 97821701 if you can help out with the technical stuff.
Cheers

Sorry, I don't know what went wrong with the header. It should have read:
A historical view of Billiluna Station at the Northern end of the
Canning Stock Route.

But that does'nt my answer my question. It would be far better if I donated it to

Hi Bluefly,
You cannot upload Videos or DVD's directly to this site. You can however upload the DVD to a site such as Youtube or Vimeo and embed the result to a blog or
forum thread on this site - copyright laws may be relevant.
It looks like the originals to this film are kept at the University of Texas, Austin.
Cheers

With a 30 minute film, would that be too long for you tube or vimeo? The film sounds of great interest and it would be wonderful to have it made accessible to this thread.

Hi bluefly
Its a great l;little film isn't it. Its shows a Stock route down the Tanami - a S Route that hasn't been talked about much.
The station manager you talk about wouldn't be a chap by the name of Brosnan would it?
Re sending a copy to the Stockman's HOF are you sure it isn't already there?
cheers

Hi bluefly ,
Sorry for the delay in answering, I've had @#!&* ADSL2 problems.
Snowy is alive and
well and lives at Spencer Brook WA - he makes saddles and stock whips as
well. He has a copy of the film you talk about, its in digital format.
Its a shame you two had a falling out.
Are you a ex stockman? If so I am researching the Canning S R for a book and am about half way in the writing of it. Are you able to help with any info?
Phil
